# Dark Upgrader Guide

### Overview

The Dark Upgrader NPC lets you upgrade your equipment, wings, accessories, and costumes to higher tiers. Some upgrades have a chance of failure — on failure, all materials except the catalyst item are consumed. Costumes are upgraded at 100% success but enchantments are lost.

Location: Morroc Paradise (`moc_para01 16, 18`)

### How It Works

1. Talk to the Dark Upgrader and choose an Upgrader Shop (1, 2, or 3).
2. Pick a sub-category (Headgears, Wings, Accessories, or Costumes).
3. Select the upgrade you want from the shop window (1 item at a time).
4. The NPC shows required materials, Activity Points cost, and success chance.
5. Confirm to attempt the upgrade.

#### Important Mechanics

* Non-catalyst materials and Activity Points are consumed on every attempt, success or failure.
* Catalyst items are NOT consumed on failure — only consumed on a successful upgrade.
* Catalyst restriction: You must have exactly the required amount of the catalyst in your inventory. Store any extras before attempting.
* Successful upgrades are announced server-wide.

### Tips

* Headgears are the easiest upgrades at 60% success — start here if you're new to the system.
* Accessories are deceptively expensive — only 25% success means you'll likely need multiple attempts, burning through Credits and Aegis Gold Plates.
* Wings and Shop 2 items are endgame upgrades — 20-30% success with high AP costs. Stock up heavily before attempting.
* Dragon Wings I is the hardest non-costume upgrade — 20% success and a massive 70 Activity Points per attempt.
* Costume upgrades are free and guaranteed, but remember your enchantments will be wiped. Re-enchant after upgrading.
* Keep only the exact catalyst amount in your inventory. The NPC will reject you if you carry extras. Store spares in storage first.
* Catalyst items are your safety net — they're only consumed when the upgrade succeeds, so you never lose them on a failed attempt.
